In this context attempts to find the location of the battle at Fulford which was the first of 3 battles in the autumn of 1066 have been undertaken. The website tells the story of the battle, the methods used to find the site and then plot the course of the battle plus the tale of the ongoing struggle to save the site from destruction by house-builders.
The website includes details of the preface to the Bayeux tapestry that is being embroidered to help make the world aware of a battle that was the size and duration of the clash which took place at Hastings a few weeks later.
