The Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States (MOLLUS) was founded on April 15, 1865 in response to the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. Originally composed of Union Officers, it is now composed of descendants of officers of the Union Army, Navy, and Marines. It is the oldest American Civil War organization still in existence. Organizationally, the MOLLUS is composed of a National Commandery-in-Chief and individual state Commanderies. There are currently 19 Commanderies and two Provisional Commanderies.
